The story behind our designs
Share
Hello everyone,
In this post, I’d like to share the stories behind some of the designs that shaped the first Maju Culture collection.
Maju - butterflies
This was the very first sample I created in the Netherlands, and it holds a special place in my heart. The butterfly represents transformation and growth – a fitting symbol for the beginning of this brand. The positive feedback I received encouraged me to make it a core piece in the collection.
Maju - vintage Y2K
Before creating this design, I spent a lot of time exploring the vintage market. I’ve always been drawn to clothing that carries a sense of history. This design features distressed graphics and nods to early 2000s fashion, with subtle references to Kanye West's Grammy performances – just because I love the aesthetic.
Maju - multiple hearts
I’ve always been inspired by the symbolism of hearts, and incorporating them into my designs felt like a no-brainer to me. This was the final piece of the first collection, following the success of the previous two designs. It embodies the idea of “much love from Maju” – a message I want to share with the community.
Thank you for all the support, and I look forward to sharing more designs and stories with you soon!
